Hey 7th graders!
I was very encouraged to hear that quite a few of you already know the type of school you would like to enter into. If you don't, it's completely understandable and okay, but the more sure you are by the end of our class time together, the more certain and prepared you will be in September :) This process can seem like a very scary one, but I have faith that you can do it and I will do my best to get you into a school that fits you. Your assignment for this Thursday is as follows: For this lesson, you are to search up at least seven schools that you would be interested in attending. You can even look up schools based on your interests to see if they have activities and programs that cater to your future goals. However, DO NOT just choose any school to get the assignment done. I want you to really research and think about your ideal schools. Part 1: As you find the schools, I want you to write down the following on a separate sheet of paper FOR EACH SCHOOL: School name: District: What activities do they provide at this school? What are the requirements for getting in to these schools? What are some notable facts about this school? How long has this school been around? What are the average class sizes for this school? What is the acceptance rate for this particular school? For example, if the school has 3,000 applications, how many of them are accepted? What would I have to do to be prepared to enter into these schools? Part 2: Now that you've researched a few schools, I want you to begin narrowing them down to just six schools by comparing your grades from last year to the schools you chose. 1. Number the schools based on how well the school matches with your own academic profile. 2. Put an asterik (*) next to the school(s) you really would like to attend, regardless of whether you think you have a sure chance of getting in. Ms. Woodbury Tip: DO NOT get discouraged. Remember, high school essays and recommendations can easily help some of you that may have struggled last year academically due to personal difficulties as long as you work extremely hard this year. All things are possible through Christ and if it's in His will for you, nothing will be able to stop that. Links for Finding Schools: 1.
