To make things easier to follow, I've now added separate sections for assignments, so it's not as confusing to view. Therefore, 7th graders will now have a separate section and 8th graders will now have a separate section for viewing assignments.

There are 17 days left for you have to your applications in. Some of you still have materials that you need to turn into me before we can actually proceed with the process of submitting these applications. It is very important that you turn these materials into me because without them, the application is incomplete. Therefore, I've drafted a list of things that I need before submitting your applications. Without them, it is impossible for me to fill them out.
I cannot and will not submit any applications without the following:

Please bring a pencil (maybe a few pencils), some paper, and your energy, so we can get to work!
Your high school essay is an extremely important part of your high school application. It allows the admissions officers to learn more about you as a person outside of your academic history. If last year was a difficult year for you, this is your opportunity to express this and show the progress you have made this year. I will bring a few treats for you all to get you through the afternoon. Looking forward to working with you all this Friday! Best, Ms. Woodbury It's about that time, 8th graders, to begin thinking about high schools! I was very encouraged to hear that quite a few of you already know the type of school you would like to enter into. However, if you are still uncertain, do not feel discouraged or down about yourself. This process can seem like a very scary one, but I have faith that you can do it and I will do my best to get you into a school that fits you.
Your assignment for this Friday is as follows: For this lesson, you are to search up at least seven schools that you would be interested in attending. You can even look up schools based on your interests to see if they have activities and programs that cater to your future goals. However, DO NOT just choose any school to get the assignment done. Part 1: As you find the schools, I want you to write down the following on a separate sheet of paper: School name: District: What activities do they provide at this school? What are the requirements for getting in to these schools? What are some notable facts about this school? How long has this school been around? What are the average class sizes for this school? Part 2: Now that you've researched a few schools, I want you to begin narrowing them down to just six schools by comparing your grades from last year to the schools you chose. 1. Number the schools based on how well the school matches with your own academic profile. 2. Put an asterik (*) next to the school(s) you really would like to attend, regardless of whether you think you have a sure chance of getting in. Ms. Woodbury Tip: DO NOT get discouraged. Remember, high school essays and recommendations can easily help some of you that may have struggled last year academically due to personal difficulties as long as you work extremely hard this year. All things are possible through Christ and if it's in His will for you, nothing will be able to stop that. Links for Finding Schools: 1.
