Are you almost ready?
The day that many of you have been awaiting for is now approaching very quickly. It seems like just yesterday that I was working with you all as seventh graders! I am so excited for all that you're going to accomplish this year and beyond! Just a few reminders as we approach the end of the year and some words of encouragement: FINISH STRONG: I know that with the end of the year approaching, you may be tempted to completely give up and slack off, now is not the time. You've worked so hard thus far and there's only a few weeks left. Finish strong and finish well as people typically say. SUBMIT ANY FORMS TO YOUR SCHOOLS: If your school is requesting the completion and submission of any documents, make sure that these documents are submitted on time. Do not wait until the last minute as they may take that as you opting to no longer attend the school. TAKE IT ALL IN: With this being your final year at LOGAN Hope, be sure to take every moment in. Use this opportunity as a chance to make amends with people you may need to make amends with, forgive those that need to be forgiven, and essentially prepare to start fresh at your new school. I couldn't be more proud of the ways you all have grown in the past few years. Here's to more growth and change! Best, Mrs. Kim

Can you believe that it's already the beginning of the school year? That soon and very soon you will be back in the classrooms, prepared for days of learning, growing, and preparing for graduation!
I just wanted to inform you that there will be no High School Readiness class this year (gasp). Instead, I will pull you all aside during your Friday periods to work with you on high school-related things, applications, note-taking, etc. Sometimes, I will pull out either groups of students or individual students based on the need for the day. I hope you can all continue to be flexible during this time and I look forward to working with you this year! Do not forget that your projects are due THIS Thursday. This means that they must be complete and ready to be presented before that day. If you have any questions or you need assistance, please let me know and I will do my best to help assist you as you work to continue completing this assignment. If you do not have your project ready for presentation by this Thursday, you will lose points.
You know what I just realized while finalizing some things? This is the year you all graduate middle school and enter high school as freshmen. How exciting is that? Soon you will be a part of the graduating class of 2016! How cool is that?
My advice to you is to give back as much as you can. Give your talents, your intelligence and make this year one of your best years yet in middle school. You have the chance to turn this year around and make a positive name for yourself. So my question to you is, how would you like to be remembered? Would you like to be remembered as someone who made mistakes, but learned from them and made a huge turnaround? Would you like to be remembered as someone who did a lot for the school and really worked hard or someone that slacked off because "it's my last year!" and you're too tired to continue working at this point? Remember, this is YOUR year and your chance to leave a lasting impression and maybe even a legacy that will benefit more people than you realize Welcome to High School Readiness! I am looking forward to working with you all for the rest of this school year to discuss high schools and what to expect next year as 8th graders. This upcoming Thursday, we will begin working on our high school inventories, in which we'll start researching schools and matching them with our grades. For example, you may want to go to Central, but do you have the grades to make it into the school? If not, how can you get those grades in preparation for next year?
Also, I will start giving you suggestions based on the grades that you've received towards the end of the year for schools next year. I am very excited to be assisting you all through this process. Please feel free to let me know if you have any questions that you may have. Best, Ms. Woodbury Over the next few months, many of you are going to start hearing back about interviews and opportunities to come in to audition for schools. I cannot stress this enough, but CHECK YOUR EMAILS EVERY DAY OVER BREAK! By every day, I mean EVERY SINGLE DAY!
Yes, this message warranted all caps. The reason why is they may ask you to come in over break. If you miss your audition, your chances of getting in to that school are slim to none. This is why I told you that if you do not check your email often or have access to it at home, to use my email and I will refer the information to you and your parents. If you have an interview over break or any questions, please email me, call me, text me, or connect with me on the social media sites. I will be periodically checking over break in the event that you have a question or concern or an interview. I may not be physically available, but I will be available to talk or guide you through the process. If I am able to, I will certainly let you know. We will be having class this week, so if you have any further questions about this or what to expect, feel free to swing them by me. Connect with me on social media: Instagram - @LHGraduateSupport Twitter - MsWoodburyLOGAN Yes, I created an Instagram just for you all. I finally caved in after months of not wanting to and opting out of it. I know quite a few of you use it and thought it would be a great medium for communicating with you for future events, assignments, or even just sharing a good o'l #TBT. However, I ask that if you choose to follow me, do not post anything you would not want me reporting to someone.
I say this because I love you all and the last thing I want you for you is for you to throw away your potential at getting a job in the future because of something you posted and cannot take back. Feel free to follow me: @lhgraduatesupport There's a little more than four days until the application has to be completed for the School District. Yes, FOUR days!
Don't get anxious, however. Many of you have already completed the school district applications and are now working on completing your charter and parochial school ones. Myself, on the other hand, am now sending your materials to your desired schools, so if you have not yet submitted a copy of the schools you applied to, I will need it as soon as possible. We're almost done, guys and gals. I believe in you! On December 4th, we will be posting a coffee house event for students, families, and community members! It will be a great opportunity to network and fellowship with other people in the community.
However, one of the reasons why I am informing you of this is because this is also your opportunity to show your talents. You may perform for this event, if you choose, by either performing a song, reciting a poem, sharing a testimony, dancing or even just playing an instrument. If you would like to do any of the following things, however, you MUST let me know soon, so we can begin practicing for the event. It would look wonderful on your resumes and would give you another thing to talk about in your interviews with schools. Please let me know ASAP if you are interested. I know it has been quite a while since I have posted here in regards to updates. There have been many things going on and many things I am trying to plan for you all, so I have not had much time to post updates. However, there is one more class tour, but if you would like to attend an open house for a school, PLEASE let me know. The earlier I know, the earlier I can try to coordinate one with you, so that you will have transportation there.
Also, your high school essays should be almost completely finished. Please do not delay this process. The longer you wait to turn these materials in, the closer you are to the deadline. The closer you are to the deadline, the closer you are to possibly not being able to get into some of the schools you applied to. I am going to try my hardest to get you into some of your choice schools by the grace and strength of God, but you all have to meet me halfway by turning in your materials by the deadline. It's crunch time now and I know you are all feeling the burden of that, but do not be discouraged. God's with you the entire way and is more than willing to carry those burdens. Praying with you all! |
